HEAD CARE.
Swimsuits, bras and bikini bottoms are made of specific and functional materials to be as durable and comfortable as possible, but they need to be washed and cleaned carefully. So that you can wear and keep your garment in perfect condition for as long as possible, we explain how to care for and wash swimsuits and bikinis.
How to wash swimsuits and bikinis: taking care of your swimwear
Sunscreen, chlorine, salt water and, of course, sun exposure: during the summer, your swimsuit is exposed to many environmental factors and substances that can sometimes stress the material. Cleaning should therefore be thorough but gentle:
How to wash swimsuits after a swim
If you have spent a day at the beach or pool, we recommend that you rinse your swimsuits with clean water after wearing them. You can wash swimsuits or bikini by hand with a mild shampoo.
After about three or four days, you can wash swimsuits in the washing machine:
- We recommend that you wash the costumes on a gentle cycle. This way, delicate fabrics will not be ruined.
- It is best not to use the centrifuge or choose a very low speed (400 to 600 rpm).
- Choose washing at a temperature of no more than 30 to 40 degrees.
- It is best to use a detergent for delicate or suitable for this type of functional fabric.
- Do not use fabric softener, it may cause damage to the material and loosen the fibers.
- Place swimsuits inside a net specifically for machine washing. This will protect the swimsuits from abrasion in the washing machine and prevent the material from wearing out.
Dry swimsuits the right way
Drying swimsuits properly will allow you to use them longer. To prevent swimsuits from fading or wearing out, follow these tips:
- Do not wring out swimsuits too much, but gently remove excess water from the fabric. You can do this with a towel, for example.
- You can then put the costume on a clothesline in the shade to dry.
- To prevent the fibers from stretching, do not hang the swimsuit or bikini completely wet.
- To prevent fading, do not put the swimsuit directly in the sun to dry.
- Do not put swimsuits in the dryer. High temperatures damage the elastic fibers and can change the fit.
